Celebrating Above and Beyond Volunteerism
Harvel Brown is our newest Eat’n Park Hospitality Group Volunteer of the Year! He was nominated by several of his colleagues who noticed his commitment to giving back and wanted to celebrate him.
Our Volunteer of the Year Award has been around for decades at Eat'n Park Hospitality Group as a way to recognize team members whose efforts might otherwise go unsung.
Harvel is a Parkhurst team member at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY. About 5 years ago, he started his own organization called Harvel’s Helping Hands, which hosts a variety of community events and giveaways throughout the year.
Harvel’s Helping Hands was inspired by the idea that a successful community is one that looks out for each other with neighbors who share what they have, even if it’s not much. This is a practice that Harvel personally lives by.
He says, “I was raised by a single parent and by a community who pitched in, too. It was a collective effort! Even if you don’t have much, you have something. Imagine if everyone felt that way? The difference we could make!”
“Your worth is not based on what you have, but on what you’re willing to give.”
-Harvel Brown
In moments big and small, our team members show up for each other. Harvel's team came together in celebration at a fun, ‘90s themed party!
